Temporal lift

Temporal lift is the procedure of surgically lifting up the deep tissues through an incision made 2 cm from the temporal hairline, especially planned for patients complaining of sad, tired looks and droopy facial structure and downturned eyes. Sometimes (when it is needed) we are also adding upper blepharoplasty or doing this surgery with midfacelift as an combination surgery (midfacelift- incision inside the mouth). It is a process whose traces can be relatively hidden.

With this procedure the brows being lifted laterally and almond eye shape could be achieved also and it is also targeted to lift the upper part of the cheeks. Especially in case of suitable patients very effective results can be obtained due to skin stretching under the upper eyebrow and under the eye.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1
How long does it take (the surgery) ?

It takes around 1 hour.

2
What is the approximate recovery like after temple lift surgery?

After surgery you will stay one night in the hospital for observation. Especially the first days (2,3,4th) we are awaiting a lot of swelling and bruising around the eye area. After 4-5 days the swelling and bruising will change place and drop back. The first 2 weeks it is really normal to got a more extreme result like slanted eyes (more than you asked for) and also to got asymmetry. After 2 weeks you can easıly return back to your social life.

3
Is it permanent ?

No surgery can be called permanent, but this procedure can be described as stretching the deep tissues and changing their location permanently. In every surgery many factors affecting the permanence of the result like the skin quality, environmental factors, self care, bad/harmful habits of the patients, their lifestyle, their health situation, their sleep patterns, especially their genetics, nutrition etc. So it is always individual.  And it is impossible to say that a surgery is 100% permanent. After surgery, especially after getting back the movement of the muscles and facial expressions begin to be used, loosening of the skin is inevitable. Therefore, we are lfiting more than basically planned so more than the expected result of the surgery. The result of the surgery will age with you, but its elegant effect is expected to always be with you.

4
Where will be the incisions for this surgery ?

An incision of approximately 2.5 cm is planned parallel to the hairline, 2 cm behind the temporal scalp.

5
Which areas will be affected by this surgery ?

The temple lift procedure itself aims to lift the sides of the eyebrows, change the angle of the eyes (cat eye / almond eye) and even make them more prominent, and lift the upper cheek area.

6
Is there the possibility to choose between more slanted and less slanted eyes ?

It is a condition that can be completely determined through preoperative consultations and examinations.

7
How much will be the swelling after surgery and how long will it take to getr id of it ?

After surgery especially the first 2 weeks we are awaiting swelling and bruising. This period may vary depending on the person’s genetic characteristics and environmental factors. To get rid of the swelling and bruising could take even probably about 6-8 weeks.

Midfacelift

When the face is divided into three parts as upper-middle and lower, the most skipped part is the midface region. Surgery of the midface region is especially effective for patients who do not have serious sagging of the neck, but who have sagging cheeks on the face. Since our technique is performed completely with an intraoral incision, there are no incisions or scars under the eyes or in front of the ears-in front of the hair.

In this surgery performed through the mouth, all midface (cheek and cheekbone) tissues are released through the bone plan and lifted up and stretched obliquely according to the plan. The over-the-bone plan is the technique in which nerves and vessels are least damaged during surgical procedures. The midface lift procedure is aimed at correcting tired and droopy facial expression. The midfacelift procedure aiming correcting tired and droopy facial expression. Patients with deep and prominent nasolobial folds, with sagginess on the jawline and also with problems around their lower eyelid area are really good candidates for this surgery. The young and middle age group is the appropriate patient group. The midface lift procedure is often combined with a temple lift and a neck lift, as well as the lower cheek fat (buccal fat pillow) is removed or repositioned in the appropriate patient.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1
Who is most suıtable for this surgery ?

Especially patients with sagging cheeks and with a noticeable huge distance between lower eyelid and cheeks and also patients with prominent nasolobial folds are suitable for this surgery. For patients with sagginess on the whole face especially on the lower 1/3 part this surgery is NOT suitable.

2
How the surgery is performed ?

Midfacelift surgery is performed really often with the temple lift surgery together. With a 2.5 cm incision made through the hair in the temple area and a 1 cm incision made over the mouth and upper teeth, all the remaining tissues are released from the bone plane. All bands and sagginess in the midface-lower eyelid zygomatic area are released and surgical tightening, especially upward and oblique, is provided. There wont be any surgical incision or cut around around the ear or on the lower eyelid area.

3
Can the midfacelift be done also on younger patients ?

Definitely yes, we can do this for younger patients safely especially for the ones with sagginess on the middle part of their face (sagging cheeks etc.) due to genetics etc.

4
Is ıt possible to ımprove also the problems on the neck jaw area by doing the mıdfacelift ?

Apart from its main purpose, its biggest effect will be especially on the jaw line. The success rate is high, especially in patients with high skin quality who do not have serious skin sagging. When we want to get a more effective result we adding in some cases also buccal fat repositioning (not taking out) especially for patients with noticeable puffiness on the lower part of their faces.

5
What is the process like after the midfacelift surgery ?

A serious and difficult process awaits you rigth after the midfacelift. A liquid diet and serious oral care are required for the first 7 days after the surgery. Depending on the surgical technique, there will be a feeling of numbness around the upper lip and nose. Pain in the form of pressure around the cheek is expected for the first 2-3 days and headache in the first week. Edema and swelling, especially in the cheeks, will last for a long time in patients who have had previous procedures or fillers. We recommend that you allocate your entire calendar and schedule for 2 weeks after surgery because you need time to heal. We will give you a letter about the recovery process in which everything is explained in detail like the healing day by day.

6
Will there be taken out any stitches after this surgery ?

Inner-mouth and in-hair stitches are self-dissolving stitches. There’s no need for taking out stitches.

7
How much edema will i get after this procedure ?

Edema and bruising are expected especially in the first 2 weeks after surgery, and this period may vary depending on the genetic characteristics of the person and environmental factors. To get rid of all the swelling could take approximately even 6-8 weeks.

8
Wıll there be any use of corsets ?

Although there is no special corset to be used after the surgery, anti-edema and corrective taping will be applied to the cheek and temple areas for the first 7 days.

Necklift

We are doing this often with the deep plane faclift together and also in some cases if we see that the patient is suitable for this combination and if she or he does not want too much visible scars then we are also doing it with the midfacelift and the temple lift brow lift together to avoid too much visible scars.

Just liposuction wont be enough especially for patients with too much fat under the skin and too much sagginess on the neck area and swelling. The solution in that cases would be to do the restructuring of deep tissues and muscles and removing fat from deep tissues.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1
For whom only necklift by itself is suitable ?

Especially patients who DO NOT got really noticeable sagginess on the lower part of their face who are not suitable fort he deep plane facelift and just got sagginess on the neck area are suitable for the necklift surgery by itself. Mostly we are combinating this surgery with the temporal lift and midfacelift surgery.

2
Where will be the scar of this surgery ?

Mostly the incisions are done under the chin and also around your earlobs means behind the ear folds. It is stated that there is no incision in front of the ear and the scars are planned on anatomical folds that can be preserved relatively better.

3
How is the after surgery process ?

Especially the first 3-5 days in the neck area we are expecting a lot of swelling caused by the reconstruction. This can cause pressure and pain. After surgery we are expecting fast healing, after the first 7-10 days, due to the gravity effect of edema and muscle structures, tiny bumps and a second neck can be observed in the surgical area, this situation is completely temporary.

4
How long would you recommend to wear the corset ?

In case of deep plane facelift we are suggesting to wear the corset for the first 7-10 days.

Deep Plane Facelift Necklift

There is a lot of different specific techniques for the facelift and necklift. In practic we are not just lifting the skin, also the deep layers which are called under skin SMAS. Releasing the deep lower structures called smas which are sagging due to age or genetics (too much laxity) and lifting them Oblique-crossed to the back of the neck area.

With lifting the deeper layers you can achieve a more natural and longlasting result. This surgery is especially for patients who got noticeable/significant excess skin and sagginess on their faces. The incisions start from the hairline of the temple area to the natural folding point in front of the ear and turn behind the ear and are hidden in your back hairline.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1
Which patients are suitable for this surgery ?

Especially patients who got too much excess skin and significant sagginess on their faces.

2
Why is the deep plane facelift necklift technique preferred these days ?

Not just the skin, with releasing and lifting the skin tissue layers (which is the main reason for sagginess or which causes the sagginess) we can achieve natural lines means more natural result (without  overly tense appearance that puts stress on the skin on the face and no pressure on the face). That is the reason why this technique is preferred. The main goal is to achieve a more defined jawline and a more refreshed and dynamic look (especially with the middle part of the face). Since there is no excessive tension on the skin, scars are less noticeable.

3
How will be the period/process after the deep plane facelift necklift ?

The first 2 days we want you to stay in our hospital purely for observation purposes and for making you feel more comfortable. During this early period you can take a walk, you can eat or going to the toilet, so you can supply your basic needs. A feeling of tension in the face and especially in the neck is normal for the first 3-5 days. Less bleeding and edema is expected compared to other face lift techniques. The first dressing, which is in the form of a bandage, will be removed before your discharge, and then you will switch to taping and a light corset that you will use for the first 7 days. After discharge, you can take a shower and wash your entire face and hair.

4
For whom are these surgeries risky?

It is especially risky for patients who smoke or have smoked for a long time, have rheumatological diseases, hypertension-diabetes mellitus (DM) or bleeding disorders. These aspects can cause complications or the risk of complications can rise due to those health problems. Most importantly, more detailed evaluations should be made in patients who have had previous thread procedures, whether permanent or not, those who have had facial procedures done with heat-based or energy-based devices, and most importantly, patients who have had surgery before.

5
How are the scars hidden or are they going to be visible?

In deep plane face lift surgery, although it varies depending on the person’s needs, the scars are hidden in the ear folds starting from the temple area, and an incision is made behind the ear and planned on the hair-skin line behind the ear. When the tension is applied in accordance with the natural fold lines, the scars will decrease over time. In some cases, hypertophic scars or keloids could be seen, although very rarely. A person’s genetic predispositions and environmental factors (sun exposure, smoking, frequent use of make-up) are effective. We recommend all reducing creams for scars and will let you know which ones you have to use for better healing.

6
What can I do to heal faster?

For rapid recovery after facelift, we frequently recommend and apply HBO-hyperbaric oxygen therapy after discharge. The following 5-6 days after discharge we are recommending to get 1 hour of oxygen therapy per day every day.

7
How to use corset, how do i got to wear it ?

The first 3 days we will follow your healing with the thick corset, so first 3 days you will wear that one.  After the 3rd day you will wear the thin and light one for 4-8 hours a day. After the 10th day you do not have to wear any corset anymore.

Face Lift &Neck Lift

Sagging of the face and neck, accumulating skin in the jaw corners cannot be prevented as the age increases. The most effective way to turn back time is facial and neck lift aesthetics. It is done with many different techniques; although each technique has advantages, the best method is applied individually.

It is generally combined with fat injection. Facelift surgeries can preferably be performed under local anaesthesia.

Frequently Asked Questions(FAQs)

1
What is considered before face-neck lift surgery?

In general, as before all surgeries, blood thinners should be discontinued three weeks in advance in consultation with the anesthesiologist; if there are additional diseases-allergies, etc., our anesthesiologist should be informed. Smoking cessation at least six weeks before surgery is essential for facelift surgery. This is the surgical procedure where smoking affects the surgical process and wound healing the most.

2
What is face&neck lift surgery in general?

With age, the facial skin sags and accumulates in the jaw’s corners due to deformations or genetic factors. With the sliding membranes under the loose neck skin, the subcutaneous membrane and ligament structures are restored, and excess skin is removed with incisions made in the anterior and posterior ear and hairline. Face and neck lift surgery is one of the surgeries with the best results. The biggest mistake here is to expect an increase in skin quality. It should not be forgotten that this surgery is a stretching surgery; skin renewal is a combined procedure performed entirely after this surgery. In general, we perform face and neck lift surgeries together with a holistic approach.

3
Is there an age limit?

In general, it is a surgery performed more after the age of 40s, depending on the person’s face deformation. Non-surgical methods are preferred in earlier periods.

4
In which period is it recommended to do it?

When is the right time? The preferred period is autumn and winter, where cold weather and sun effects are low. It can also be done on summer days by taking precautions.

5
Will there be a scar?

As with any surgery, there will be scars in this surgery, but this scar is hidden in anatomical folding points contrary to popular belief. The anterior and posterior ear scars heal very well; the scars hidden in front of the scalp become less evident over time. It should be kept in mind that scarring depends entirely on the patient’s skin quality, genetic factors, external factors ( smoking – sun, etc.). Special creams are recommended to prevent scars after facelift surgery.

6
Which anaesthesia method is preferred for the procedure, and how is the postoperative process?

Face and neck lift surgeries can generally be performed under local anaesthesia + sedation or general anaesthesia, depending on the patient’s preference. Patients are preferably kept under observation for one night after local anaesthesia and for at least two nights after general anaesthesia. There will be special pressure dressings and drains for the first 2-3 days. Significant oedema and bruising are inevitable in the first ten days. After opening the first dressings, the hair can be washed. There will be daily dressings for the first two weeks, during which thin face corsets are worn. After two weeks, special scar prevention creams are applied.

7
When to return to social life?

Rest at home is generally recommended for the first five days after facelift surgery; it is essential not to increase blood pressure and avoid external factors. Rest is generally recommended for the first three weeks, and you can return to social life after this process.

8
When will the final result be seen?

Unlike other surgeries, tissues’ adaptation takes longer in facial surgeries, so oedema and swelling are evident in the first month, but healing continues for 6-12 months. The skin, which is felt tense in the first postoperative period, relaxes slightly and is felt more comfortable after the first healing.

9
What should I pay attention to?

After surgery, smoking, all movements that will increase blood pressure, and unhealthy meals should be avoided. Significantly excessive massage, early exposure to heat will damage healing tissues. After facelift surgery, it is essential to combine post-healing skin healing procedures. Especially in the high oxygen environment, keeping the head high and less salty diets are recommended for recovery.

Brow Lift / Forehead Lift

Unlike temple lifting, in patients with genetically low eyebrow structure or with completely low midline or outer ends of the eyebrow structure, the eyebrows are surgically lifted under the bone membrane according to the patient's anatomical structure, through 4 small incisions on the scalp, without any intervention to the eyes.

It’s aimed to make the eyes look bigger with this procedure. Since the eye structure cannot be changed, the tissues around the eye are removed from the eye, that’s what we name as an eyebrow lifting. With bone shaving we are getting a more effective result and look especially in patients who got very prominent and noticeable bone right under the brow (outer side walls of the eye) . So this is most commonly added to this procedure. Eyebrows are lifted more effectively with bone shaving.

Frequently Asked Questions(FAQs)

1
Where will be the scars of this procedure ?

There are approximately 2.5 cm scars on both sides of the temple scalp, parallel to the hair follicles, completely within the scalp, and 2 0.5 cm scars in the midline.

2
What will be the process like after this brow lift surgery ?

In the first period, all forehead muscles will not work for 6-8 weeks, asymmetries may be observed due to the muscles starting to move during this period. You may feel numbness in the forehead area and midline of the scalp for a while, this is completely temporary. Especially during the first period it will seem like it is too extreme and it will look more pulled than you asked for but that’s normal caused by muscle unactivity after getting back the movement of your muscles this situation will get back to normal and wont seem to look extreme, this can take up to 3-4 weeks. You will be followed with tapes for the first 7 days, then there may be skin irregularities and shrinkage, it is completely temporary. The final result is achieved within 8-12 weeks.

3
Can intervention be done on the eyes and cheeks if desired while doing this?

Temporal lift surgery can also be performed through brow lift incisions and can be combined with mid-face lift/face lift surgeries if desired.

4
Does bone shaving damage the facial anatomy ?

After the facial consultation we will decide if this is needed or not and if yes, the same incisions can be brought to softer lines under the eye walls-bone membrane with ‘micromotors’ in order to make the eyes more prominent and to obtain longer-lasting eyebrow lift surgeries. This is not a process such as breaking the bone structure etc., it is a completely safe and minimal procedure.
